Speaking of Mercy Part 2: Embracing God’s Mercy in Failure

As we continue in our current series Speaking of Mercy, I want to pass along to you my message outline from last week’s message on March 19 “Embracing God’s Mercy in Failure”. Because we are an imperfect people and we live in an imperfect world we all experience failures in life. My heart is that we, as born again residents of this Valley allow the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to make us a part of His plan to transform this: valley of trouble into a…

How Can We Bless Our Communities?

Ok, so we’re here in Monongahela in the plan and purpose of God. We have had generations before us plant and water the Gospel here formally since 1860. They and we have made purchases, built, then remodeled and remodeled some more. Done and doing the important part of maintaining and maintenance even in light of tight budgets. As God provided for them, we see God faithfully supplying and providing for us. Our neighbors don’t come because of our facilities but the comfort that they provide does…

A Prayer Framework by Pastor Tim Keller

Today I want to pass on to you a framework for prayer from Pastor Tim Kellers book called “Prayer” Sometimes there’s no steps. We’re too desperate. We’re hurting, anxious, worried or fearful, even. The last thing we’re thinking is about following some sort of steps. We just run to God as our Abba Father and cry, “Help!” And that is completely fine. But sometimes a pattern is helpful. In Tim Keller’s book, Prayer. there’s a framework for prayer he outlines towards the end. Mixed with his words and…

Keep Believing as You Pray

While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altar. Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John. You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, Luke 1:11–14 (NLT) Imagine you’re…

Our Family Christmas Eve service is just 4 days away but I wanted to update you on the amount of our special missions offering. Your gifts this past Sunday totaled $1,021.62! Thank you for your sacrificial giving and care extended to our missionaries. Our goal was $1,790.00 to fulfill our promise and as you can see we came up short. But the amount collected allows us to make up nearly five of the eight months of reduced missions giving. Over…

I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness. Our goal is $1,790.00 to fulfill our promise in caring for those who have decided to live by the gospel and are depending on us to honor our faith pledge for their livelihood. I wanted to remind you so that you will be…

Membership Q&A

Last week we saw a beautiful display of public professions of faith in Christ through the ordinance of water baptism. Then we received into formal membership three families. So what did we see in baptism? Answer: a declaration of citizenship in Christ’s kingdom. It’s a personal announcement of both a death and a resurrection of an individual that has trusted Christ as their personal savior. It’s their proclamation as an official, licensed, card-carrying, bona fide Jesus representative. And, what is…

Call For The Fall

CALL FOR THE FALL: altogether in ministry    My new series beginning August 21 where you will be encouraged to join with this congregation in ministry like never before. While the needs around us are great, our God is greater! Jesus said the harvest is ready. My talks will be a little mix of unity, gifts, needs, challenges, short-term vision and appeals that will describe, define and draw attention to our harvest field. But the primary focus will be on the…
