Veteran’s Day Thoughts

Veteran’s Day Thoughts

During the modern era and more than at any other time in our history, the Veterans of the US Military have been often misrepresented, evil is spoken of and treated horribly. Sadly, the treatment they have received at the hands of the very US citizens that they have sacrificed to protect has been brutal and as an institution, undeserved. But today as a congregation we choose to celebrate their sacrifices so that we can live the life we choose in this great nation. Our gratitude for them Is deep and we thank God for the women and men of our military that has stood and continues to stand engaged for the preservation of The United States of America.
In this morning’s video, we name those who in some way, large or small, are connected to this Congregation. God not only calls us by name but will someday give a name that will be very special to each of those who have trusted Jesus as their personal Savior. Because of the importance our military to us, I want to share with you a poem that my mom wrote back in July of 1973.
“Called by Name”
I met God this morning, and
He gave me the sweetest
prayer —
In the light of this new
dawning, Jesus met me
there.
The rugged cross of Calvary
took all our sin and
Shame –
We’re God’s adopted Children,
and He calls each one by
Name.

Revelation 2:17 (NLT) “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.
