You Lead, I’ll Follow – Part 3 – Of Ropes and Threads

“While your children are small you have then by a rope. Before they reach puberty, you will find that your rope has become a thread.” (Pastor Bob White) This weekend we examined our roles in parenting in light of the Gospel mandate to make disciples. We are all in love with our own opinions, convinced they’re correct. But the Lord is in the midst of us, testing and probing our every motive. Before you do anything, put your trust totally in…

The Heart of the Matter – Part 4

Mark’s final message in this series is about serving others as part of following Jesus in His Kingdom of Love. We reveal our love for God above all else and our love for our neighbor as your self. That can best be seen when we get up from our place of comfort, abandon our rights to be served, serve until the task is finished and return to our place. Jesus’ washing the disciples’ feet is our example of how to serve others.

The Heart of the Matter Part 2

We often aim near and miss far…sadly most of the time we are shortsighted when it comes to the spiritual life’s most important details. We sacrifice the eternal for the moment. Like a GPS or road signs, the Word of God tells us what’s coming next and how to prepare for what’s next along the road. But it seems that the most difficult signs are the ones that have to do with how we handle our possessions and wealth.

The Heart of the Matter Part 1

A clean heart does not mean a perfect heart. In this opening message, we’ll observe the contrast of perspectives between the word “clean”, meaning no reservations or submitted, and the often used word “perfect” but meaning no errors or independent. Sin is a disposition and is either purposeful, unintentional or done unconsciously. We’ll look at a couple in the newly formed 1st-century church for more detail.

Speaking of Mercy Part 6: A Home Made in Mercy

It’s Easter Sunday and Jesus is Risen! In this message we to looked at the effect God’s power can have in our families. Because one of the hardest places to show mercy is right within the walls of our own homes. Family members hurt and are hurt by each other in ways that are especially challenging. Yet God wants our homes to be Homes Made in Mercy! There are at least four ways we can show mercy at home. Message outline notes from A Home Made…

Speaking of Mercy Part 5: Sharing Your Mercy

What we call “Psalm Sunday” was just another day until Jesus came in on donkey’s colt and the crowd, made up mostly of those he had touched cried: “Hossana – “Save Now.” This display lead to a crazed city asking in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” Matt.21:10-11(NLT) As we begin week five in our Speaking of Mercy series so far it’s been primarily about God’s mercy toward as our focus. But today, the…

Done Enough Yet? Fort or Flop

FORT or FLOP: both can equal disaster if our perspective is wrong. We gain our perspective from the sensory input of our environment. And we turn around and use that very interpreted perspective to interpret our environment. It can easily bring great confusion on our life decisions, especially when it comes to hoe we handle our perceived wealth. Proverbs 10:15 (LEB) The wealth of the rich is the city of his strength; the ruin of the poor is their poverty. A simple read of…
